The Pavilion

Hazendal Wine Estate

Situated on an existing circular farm dam with axial views over the Stellenbosch mountain range, the pavilion straddles the edge of the Hazendal historical Werf. It’s a multi-functional space, which can accommodate anything from a jazz band with the audience relaxing on the rolling lawns, a wedding ceremony or even a car launch. This small structure is formed from white rendered concrete, using a double layered screen infill pattern on the sides, which provides a kinetic effect as the viewer moves around the structure. The play of shadow and light creates an interesting interplay between nature and architecture.
